Today’s recipe is pork with sage and apples. You can find the original recipe here: www.womansday.com We searched using the key words: pork chop, apples We ended up buying all the ingredients from Safeway. *Note: Sage doesn’t really go on sale, but when we were buying the pork and apples we saw it at Safeway for $1.50 for a small pack! The recipe calls for Gala Apples, but we used Fuji Apples because they were on sale. So remember you can always be creative and make substitutions! Ingredients: 4 3/4-in.-thick pork chops (1 1/2 lb) 1 1/2 Tbsp chopped fresh sage 2 red Fuji apples, cored, cut in 1/2-in.-thick slices Season the pork chops with salt and pepper, and them sprinkle evenly on each side with sage. Heat 1 tbsp oil in large skillet over medium-high heat and cook pork chops for 3 minutes on each side, or until brown and cooked through. Remove to plate and cover loosely with foil. Saute apples for 1 minute, add 1 cup water, 2 tsp sugar, and 1/4 tsp salt. Stir to deglaze (remove brown bits from bottom of pan). Simmer while uncovered for 2 minutes until apples are just tender.
